Dustin Budden

DDustin believes that the emotions we experience happen for a reason. They can tell us something important. Emotions can be difficult to experience, and sometimes, we get stuck when emotions are too complex to experience.

Dustin’s focus is on working with individuals when they get stuck due to anxiety, depression, negative early-life experiences, and traumatic experiences.

He aims to support clients to identify and move through challenging emotional experiences in order to help them move forward in a meaningful and fulfilling way.

Dustin uses an eclectic approach to therapy, with a focus on utilizing techniques from Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

2006
Dustin completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in psychology.
2006
Dustin began working in the social services field working with young people with substance use issues at a youth detox.
2007
Dustin began working with street-involved young people to help them secure housing.
2008
Dustin began working with young people, supporting them with housing, life skills development, social social skills development, and integrating into their community. He facilitates psycho-educational and life-skill workshops on a range of topics. Dustin supports a diverse range of people including people who experience mental health, relational, and economic challenges.
2015
In addition to the work Dustin started in 2008, he took on further responsibilities including supporting young people with planning goals around substance use, mental health, education, employment, and addressing barriers.
2020
As part of his Master of Counselling program, Dustin began an internship with a health authority as a student concurrent disorders counsellor. He counselled disenfranchised adults across the lifespan struggling with a wide range of psycho-social issues related to polyaddictions and complex trauma. Dustin also facilitated a 16-Step Group.
2020
Dustin completed his thesis, which consisted of human subject research on clients’ initial experience with the psychotherapist and its relationship to psychotherapy outcome.
2022
Dustin completed two other internship placements with post secondary institutions, supporting clients facing a diverse range of psychological, emotional, social, mental, and academic challenges.

Dustin graduated with a Master of Counselling degree.
Currently
Dustin became a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
